I've seen your stencils were being used during the Communion at GB, Nice one. I missed the service but do know of one person who walked out thinking it was all too left wing and 'anti-Bush', sounds like it was good then!

Greenbelt, done it
got there for the last two days.....
After 16 years or so, it's more the vibe, the sense of history and chance meetings that make the festival meaningful to me. There are less 'wow' moments, but there are still 'Greenbelt moments', when you are reminded, unexpectedly, of why you stick with this.
For me this year i think that was a brief chat with designer Nic about the spirituality of modernist architecture and Dan Flavin's fluorescent tubes, but hey .......... i'll get through it.
Other highlights:
Trusting that somewhere in here is a hope, a dream, a vision for unity, peace, justice and celebration. It may have it's detractors but i believe it's the best we have, and that's good enough for now.

- Being kissed by Naz, who i've not seen for a long while - meant a lot to me that kiss.
- Making clay animals with my children.
- Realising that other people had worked through the meaning of A/theism, reassuring that.
- Watching the trade justice carnival, with my children replacing 'Trade Justice' with - what do we want? Ice Cream!, when do we want it? Now!
- Meeting and sharing small time with some of the special people who are a part of me and make me who i am.

Greenbelt is coming quicker than I am prepared for. It should be good, though i'm not sure how long i'll be there for.
GB is 30 years old today, and i can safely say it has been a major force for growth and development for me as a punter, and latterly as a contributer.
It may have faults, and we probably all could name our top 5 right now, but i know of no other place in the life of the church that is able to express the yearnings, questions, joys, conflicts, sorrows and doubts of faith as well as it. For a younger me, 18 and full of passion, GB knocked me off my bicycle enough times to help me learn to ride better. And i am thankful for that.
